I was attracted to these posters that I kept seeing in one of the villages in India, that were a real contrast in colour to what you’d normally see. I soon discovered they were posters advertising that there was a Circus in town. These posters consisted of a very limited colour palette which had a solid black background with only two-three very bright colours. I saw this as an opportunity to create some new work that was restricted to limited colours and simplified lines, giving it almost like a comic style look, which is very different from my usual detailed work. This piece has been created on Indian handmade paper.
